Mir Raza murder case: Karachi police book 'around 100 demonstrators' for allegedly blocking Sharea Faisal

Karachi police have registered a case against approximately 100 demonstrators accused of obstructing Sharea Faisal, the city's main thoroughfare, during a protest related to the Mir Raza Ali murder case, according to an FIR filed on August 27. Sub-Inspector Muhammad Nizam reported seeing around 100 individuals blocking the road with sticks and banners bearing slogans demanding the arrest of Mir Raza Ali's killers.

The FIR alleges that the protestors were impeding traffic and pedestrians while shouting slogans, despite attempts by officials to reason with them, which they continued doing. The FIR names 20 identified individuals and up to 75/80 unidentified associates. Ali, a 25-year-old businessman, was found dead with a gunshot wound in Gulistan-i-Jauhar after being reported missing on July 28.

A judicial commission investigating the case commenced proceedings, summoning key figures including the medico-legal officer who performed Ali's autopsy, nursery employees who discovered his body, Edhi volunteers, and police officers who responded to the scene. The family's counsel alleged that police officials were being obstructed in their duties and requested the commission to release all relevant documents and evidence related to the case.
