Man City overrun Palace to stay perfect in the Premier League

Manchester City secured a perfect start to the Premier League season with a 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Crystal Palace on Friday, August 28, 2026. Rayan Cherki and Erling Haaland both scored twice as City maintained their flawless record. Haaland, who was last season's league top goal-scorer, opened the scoring with a neat header in the 17th minute.

Cherki doubled the lead in the second half, skillfully weaving through defenders before poking the ball home from close range. However, Palace quickly pulled one back when Yeremy Pino's well-placed free kick nestled on the crossbar and then rebounded into the net off goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. Cherki restored City's two-goal advantage two minutes later with a deflected shot from just outside the box that deceived keeper Dean Henderson.

Haaland sealed the win with a left-footed strike six minutes from full-time. The win saw City climb to the top of the league with six points from their opening two matches.
