Lyon sporting director Matthieu Louis-Jean provides hopeful update on Roma target Malick Fofana

Lyon sporting director Matthieu Louis-Jean has expressed optimism that Roma may not succeed in acquiring Belgian starlet Malick Fofana. Fofana, 21, has been a regular starter for Lyon at left wing, even after recovering from a serious ankle injury last October. However, Lyon faces financial pressure due to their inability to secure a Champions League spot, forcing them to consider selling players for around fifty million euros.

Fofana, being the most valuable player in Lyon's squad, remains uncertain of his future. Despite interest from several clubs, including Roma, Louis-Jean remains committed to their plan. "It's possible he'll stay; there are several clubs showing interest in Malick, but we have a plan and we're going to stick to it – we know what we have to do," he stated, according to Canal+.

Roma, like other potential suitors, has until September 1st to convince Lyon to allow Fofana to leave.
