Leknessund wins Vuelta Stage 7 and Pogačar still has overall lead

Norwegian cyclist Andreas Leknessund triumphed in Stage 7 of the Vuelta a Espana, leading Uno-X Mobility team to victory. The demanding 150-kilometer mountain course was completed in a little over four hours, with Leknessund edging out second place finisher Tobias Halland Johannessen by 34 seconds. Teammate Wout van Aert rounded out the podium, lagging behind by 47 seconds.

Although Pogačar faltered in the final kilometers, he still managed to limit his time loss by driving the main chase group across the finish line, finishing 19th, 4 minutes and 23 seconds behind Leknessund. The overall leader, Tadej Pogačar, maintained his red jersey, securing the Tour de France champion's place in the race, as he aims to achieve a historic Grand Tour sweep.

Enric Mas of Movistar finished second in the general classification, 3 minutes and 50 seconds behind Leknessund, while Primož Roglič of Red Bull–BORA–hansgrohe remained third. The eighth stage of the race, a flat 171-kilometer ride from Puçol to Xeraco, will provide an opportunity for sprinters to showcase their skills. The three-week competition will conclude in Granada on September 13.
