Korean Red Cross Launches Nepal Flood Relief

On August 28, the Korean Red Cross announced its swift deployment of emergency relief supplies pre-positioned in Nepal. This operation is part of the Nepal Disaster Risk Reduction Project, funded by Samsung and the Community Chest of Korea. The first aid to reach the affected regions includes blankets, tarpaulins, and hygiene kits, essential for displaced residents. The Red Cross' pre-positioning of supplies in Nepal significantly cut down the logistics transit time, allowing for immediate distribution of relief goods.

The organization prioritized relief efforts as immediate assistance is crucial in the aftermath of a disaster. The Red Cross is transporting stored supplies directly to the affected areas to provide prompt relief to those who lost their homes due to the sudden floods. The scale of the damage necessitates a large-scale fundraising campaign to sustain the relief efforts.

The organization plans to conduct a nationwide emergency fundraising drive from November 1 to November 30, aiming to raise 10 billion won. All funds raised will be allocated towards relief activities for displaced individuals and the restoration of destroyed infrastructure.

Citizens interested in donating can make contributions through a designated account for the Nepal flood relief. A Korean Red Cross official informed that local authorities are diligently monitoring the flood-hit sites and are working tirelessly to prevent further damage and formulate recovery plans.
