Korea issues travel advisory for 4 Nepal provinces over flood risks

The South Korean foreign ministry has issued a travel advisory for four provinces in Nepal affected by severe flooding and landslides, signaling potential further disasters. The advisory, effective at 9 p.m. on Friday, covers Bagmati, Gandaki, Koshi, and Lumbini provinces. A Level 1 advisory, urging heightened caution, remains in effect nationwide.

South Korean citizens planning to visit the impacted regions are advised to cancel or postpone their trips, while those already in the country are urged to prioritize safety, considering relocation to safer areas unless there are urgent reasons to stay. The ministry will closely monitor the flood situation in Nepal and may adjust travel advisories accordingly.

The devastating floods and landslides in Nepal's north-central Himalayan region, which occurred on Wednesday, have inflicted extensive damage and resulted in hundreds of fatalities or missing persons. Nine South Koreans who were working on a hydropower plant construction site in Rasuwa district remain unaccounted for.
