Kevin Durant Admits Russell Westbrook Retirement ‘Hit’ Different as NBA Veteran Nears 20-Year Mark

On Thursday's Boardroom Talks, Kevin Durant shared his perspective on Russell Westbrook's retirement, acknowledging that it was a significant moment for him as they had been teammates for nearly two decades. Durant reminisced about their time together with the Oklahoma City Thunder, where they were the dynamic duo, often referred to as the Superman and Batman.

They achieved great success, including reaching the 2012 NBA Finals and making numerous postseason appearances. Durant expressed his admiration for Westbrook, stating that seeing him retire after 18 years in the NBA was like seeing one of his earliest companions hang up his shoes. Durant also expressed his belief that Westbrook could still play in the league, which is why his retirement was unexpected.

Despite this, Durant remains positive about Westbrook's future, hoping to see him accomplish new things in the coming years. Durant himself has not announced his retirement but has begun to contemplate what he would like to do after his basketball career. One of his main aspirations is to become the GM of Team USA for an upcoming Olympics, among other ideas he has for post-basketball life.
