Kebbi: AFUSTA Acting VC, Mungadi resigns amid institutional challenges

Professor Ismaila Mungadi, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology (AFUSTA) in Kebbi State, has resigned from his position. In a letter dated August 28, 2026, addressed to the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University’s Governing Council, Mungadi stated that his resignation would be effective immediately.

He accepted the appointment with the mandate to stabilize the university, enhance its governance, restore confidence, and facilitate a smooth transition to substantive leadership. Mungadi dedicated himself to the role and collaborated with university community members and stakeholders to achieve progress during his tenure. He expressed gratitude to Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, for the confidence placed in him.

However, recent developments have made it challenging for him to fulfill his responsibilities effectively and maintain institutional harmony. Despite his efforts to resolve the emerging issues through the proper channels, Mungadi concluded that he might not be able to achieve the objectives for which he accepted the position. Consequently, he deemed resignation as the most appropriate action for the university's benefit.
