KASU Management Begs ASUU to Suspend Strike

The management of Kaduna State University (KASU) has called on the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in Kaduna to halt its ongoing strike and allow for discussions with the Kaduna State Government to resolve the underlying issues. This appeal was documented in a statement released by the university's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, on Friday.

The appeal was made possible following Governor Uba Sani's intervention, who has since set up a nine-member committee under the chairmanship of Commissioner for Education, Professor Abubakar Sani Sambo, to examine the issues and provide recommendations within a month. The university management expressed hope that the dialogue would be given due consideration, particularly as the State Government is already taking concrete steps to address the concerns at hand.

They acknowledged the academic staff's concerns and the anxiety among students and parents regarding the potential disruption to academic activities. Many students have journeyed long distances to study at the institution, and any interruption to the academic calendar would have serious repercussions for their studies, families, and future plans.

The university management praised Governor Sani for addressing the university's concerns and for taking proactive measures to find lasting solutions. They pledged to maintain open communication with the government and university unions while prioritizing the welfare of both staff and students. The university appealed to students and parents to remain patient, assuring them that efforts were being made to reach an early resolution and restore normal academic activities.
