Isdefe nombra a Daniel Acuña como CEO tras la dimisión de Manuel Cutrín

The Spanish public engineering and consulting company Isdefe, under the Ministry of Defence, has appointed Daniel Acuña as its new Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Manuel Cutrín who has resigned to pursue other professional challenges following his selection for the position in April of last year. Acuña had been serving as the Operations Director at Isdefe since 1988, a company he joined at the age of 18.

He has held various key positions, including Defense Systems and Security Systems. Acuña holds a degree in Telecommunications Engineering from UPM in Madrid, a Master's degree in Management of Contracts and Programs in the Public Sector, and has undertaken several leadership and development programs at IESE and Esade. He has also been an associate university lecturer and an engineer in companies like Page Ibérica.

His experience at Isdefe equips him to tackle the challenges of leading a crucial sector player, as stated by Isdefe in a LinkedIn post. Manuel Cutrín cited fulfilling almost all objectives and personal circumstances as reasons for his resignation, adding that he had informed the Secretariat of State for Defence about his departure.

Teresa Castillo, another executive involved in a separate investigation regarding irregularities at Sepi, also resigned around the same time. Isdefe reported a revenue of nearly 257 million euros in 2025, a 6.5% increase from the previous year's 241 million euros. However, the net profit dropped to 8.5 million euros, a 43% decrease from 2024's 14.87 million euros.

The EBIT was 11.22 million euros, a 44% decline from the 20 million euros recorded in 2024. With these figures, Isdefe's EBIT margin on revenue reached 4.37%, 4 percentage points lower than the 8.3% recorded in 2024. Isdefe, wholly owned by the INTA, focuses on consultancy, technical assistance, and engineering projects for defence, as well as other sectors such as transport and energy.

Some of the major projects Isdefe has supported include the F-110 frigates for Navantia, the 8x8 armored vehicles produced by Tess Defence, and the future European fighter jet, FCAS, among others.
