In a self-defence bid, Bengaluru police open fire at man suspected of making illegal arms

The Bengaluru City Police (BCP) recently launched a special operation targeting rowdy-sheeters, conducting surprise checks on approximately 500 individuals across the city. The raids took place in the late hours of Friday night, focusing primarily on notorious police station limits in the north, west, southwest, and Electronics City areas.

In the west division, 162 rowdy-sheeters were checked, while 137 were inspected in the southwest division, 121 in the north division, and 67 in the Electronics City division. Police stations known for their notorious reputation, such as Bandepalya, Begur, Parappana Agrahara, Chandra Layout, and Srirampura, were targeted during the operation.

The primary objective of the drive was to ensure that the individuals were not in possession of firearms or any deadly weapons. Many of the rowdies have active court cases against them, while others have missed crucial court proceedings. The police directed these individuals to attend their respective hearings promptly.

Several rowdies were also identified as having long-pending registers. The operation came in the wake of a recent murder in Madiwala, which is believed to have been committed due to an old rivalry involving deadly weapons. Following the incident, the police issued a stern warning to rowdies, urging them to refrain from any unlawful activities.
