IET inducts over 130 new engineers, warns against unlicensed practice

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) in Ghana recently inducted over 130 new engineers in a ceremony highlighting the themes of innovation, integrity, and sustainable development. The event, attended by newly inducted engineers, their families, industry professionals, and dignitaries, marked a significant milestone in the careers of these individuals as they officially entered the professional engineering community.

Registrar of the Engineering Council-Ghana, Ing. Isaac Bedu, emphasized the importance of upholding professional standards during his address at the ceremony. He cautioned engineers against practicing without valid or counterfeit professional licenses, stressing that those found guilty could face legal repercussions such as prosecution and potential imprisonment. Ing. Bedu urged engineers to ensure their licenses remained valid by adhering to the required renewal procedures stipulated by law.

President of the IET, Engr. Davor Wonder, challenged the newly inducted engineers to prioritize service to humanity and the nation. He encouraged them to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and innovation as they embarked on their careers. Engr. Wonder emphasized the critical role engineers play in driving Ghana's development and urged new professionals to place societal interests above self-interest, utilizing their expertise to address the country's developmental challenges.
