Guns, drugs and car chases: GTA 6 preview lands on Netflix after leaks

San Francisco — Rockstar Games has premiered a 26-minute preview of the next Grand Theft Auto installment, GTA 6, on Netflix for the first time. The delayed release, originally slated for late 2025, will now happen on November 19. The preview, set in Vice City, a Miami-like location, follows the lead character Jason as he escapes a drug bust with a red duffel bag and his new partner Lucia.

They are depicted as Bonnie and Clyde, resembling the early 20th-century American outlaws known for robbery and their eventual demise at the hands of law enforcement. The preview also features car chases, a strip club, rooftop meetings, and shootouts. Pre-orders for GTA 6 are unknown, but Netflix experienced midday outages when the preview dropped.

The 26-minute preview is set to be released on YouTube later today. Earlier, clips of the new release were leaked online since August 18, a move Rockstar called "heartbreaking." In response to the leaks, Rockstar sought court orders to obtain data from Microsoft and Discord to identify the source. Two federal judges in New York granted the subpoenas.

The leaks are linked to an account known as Cyberleek, who claims to be exposing industry business practices. Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two, faced backlash for not offering physical copies and for selling a premium version of the game with extra content. Recently, the US Army offered soldiers four days off to play GTA 6 in exchange for reenlisting.

Of the 130 eligible soldiers, 20 have reportedly accepted the offer, which requires a minimum two-year commitment.
