Google’s hyper-personalized ‘Dreambeans’ feed is now free to test

Google Labs has released its experimental app, Dreambeans, for free testing to all US Google Accounts. Previously restricted to Google AI Ultra subscribers, Dreambeans is now accessible to a broader audience. The app utilizes Google's Personal Intelligence system to analyze user data from Gmail, Google Photos, Calendar, Workspace, Search history, and YouTube. By combining these signals, Dreambeans creates personalized daily stories tailored to each user's interests.

The app suggests topics and activities for users to explore, such as places to visit and events to attend. Each story features unique, artfully illustrated images generated by Google's Nano Banana 2. For instance, if Dreambeans recommends a hike, users will see themselves and friends at the actual location. Tapping on a story reveals more details, including trail information, stopping points, appropriate attire, and timing suggestions. Dreambeans also links to external web content for further reading.

Users can engage with the app through an "Ask anything" chat feature or provide feedback via heart-likes or down-votes. The "Tune your feed" option allows users to specify topics they want more of or nothing at all. The app's name reflects its process: Dreambeans analyzes the vast amount of content across users' connected apps overnight, distilling it into concise, personalized stories each morning.

Dreambeans is currently available on Android and iOS devices in the US. Its standalone experience, while innovative, may eventually be integrated with Google's Daily Brief in the Gemini app for an even more visually engaging service.
