Georgia Amoore scores career-high 25 and the Mystics move into 6th with 80-73 win over Mercury

Georgia Amoore delivered a career-high 25 points, scoring 16 of them in the fourth quarter of the Washington Mystics' 80-73 victory over the Phoenix Mercury on Thursday night. Kiki Iriafen contributed 20 points and 12 rebounds, marking her 19th double-double of the season. The Mystics' win propelled them to sixth place in the WNBA standings, following New York's loss to Golden State earlier that day.

Washington trailed 63-53 with 8:17 remaining in the fourth quarter before mounting a 17-2 comeback to take a 70-65 lead. Amoore's three-pointers on consecutive possessions extended the Mystics' lead to 78-73 with just 1:18 left. Betnijah Laney-Hamilton sealed the game with two free throws with 28.1 seconds remaining, extending the gap to seven points.

Amoore finished with a career-high six three-pointers, surpassing her previous best of 14 points in a game. Shakira Austin contributed 11 points for Washington. For Phoenix (13-26), lead scorer Kahleah Copper tallied 35 points on 13-of-22 shooting. Copper became the fastest player in franchise history to reach 2,000 points with Phoenix, achieving the milestone in just 103 games, a game ahead of Diana Taurasi and Cappie Pondexter.

Phoenix guard Lexi Held scored a three-pointer while being fouled in the third quarter, extending Phoenix's lead to 54-51, which they held until Held's attempt on a seven-point possession after the foul was upgraded to a Flagrant 1, which she missed.
