General : Teo Nie Ching Denies Allegations of Involvement In Gang-related Activities

Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching has dismissed allegations circulating on social media claiming she is linked to gang-related activities in her state and a recent road accident under police investigation. The DAP national vice-chairman stated the claims are false and baseless, emphasizing that new social media accounts were created specifically to make these accusations against her.

Teo, who has been in politics for 18 years and served as an MP for 13 years, clarified that mere photographs of her with individuals at social events do not equate to involvement in any illicit activities. The Johor police chief, along with other law enforcement officials, has already held a press conference announcing the arrest of 13 suspects.

Teo welcomed a thorough police investigation and advised the public not to readily believe information received through social media without verifying its authenticity. She has lodged complaints with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the police, but noted the challenge lies with Meta, as they determine whether to shut down accounts or delete posts.

Yesterday, Senai assemblyman Wong Bor Yang filed a police report at the Kulai District Police Headquarters over defamatory posts and false allegations linking Teo and the DAP to a gang.
