EV maker Lucid to recall more than 27,000 luxury sedans over fire risk, NHTSA says

Electric vehicle manufacturer Lucid is recalling over 27,000 of its high-end Air sedans sold in the United States, due to a potential fire hazard caused by overheating of an exterior lighting circuit, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The recall notice from NHTSA advises owners to park their vehicles outdoors and away from any structures until a fix is implemented.

The overheating circuit could also lead to loss of exterior lighting, which may in turn escalate the risk of a crash, as per NHTSA. Lucid has already delivered 15,841 units to customers so far in 2025, making this recall the company's largest to date. In May, Lucid recalled 2,039 vehicles due to a loss of power, while it also issued a recall for over 10,000 vehicles in January due to issues with rearview camera images. Lucid is backed by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF).
