Energia marks 25 years, targets 20,000 bpd expansion

Indigenous Nigerian energy firm Energia Limited celebrated its 25th anniversary, underscoring a quarter-century of resilience, innovation and value creation in the nation's oil and gas sector. Founded in 2001 by seasoned petroleum professionals, the company has grown from an exploration and production entity into a comprehensive energy provider with assets including crude production, gas processing, storage, and export infrastructure.

Founded by Nigerian petroleum professionals who were key members of the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria, Energia has been a testament to the technical and operational prowess of indigenous companies in the energy sector. Chairman George Osahon reflected on the milestone, praising the foundation laid by founders, employees, host communities, partners and stakeholders.

The firm's anniversary represents a tribute to the company's vision, resilience, and collective commitment of those who have contributed to its journey.

Since its inception, Energia has made significant strides, including achieving First Oil from the Ebendo/Obodeti field in 2009. By 2012, the company had established a 25 million standard cubic feet per day gas processing plant in partnership with Xenergi. They have since expanded their flow station capacity to 8,000 barrels of oil per day and 25 MMSCFD of gas in 2014, with cumulative crude production reaching five million barrels by 2016 and 10 million barrels by 2020.

Recent efforts include the completion of a produced-water treatment plant, acquisition of new 3D seismic data, and drilling of two additional wells in the northern section of the field, with plans to scale field capacity to 20,000 barrels of oil per day.
