Emirati dies in Mykonos drowning during Greece holiday

Ras Al Khaimah mourns the loss of a young Emirati man who tragically drowned while on holiday in Mykonos, Greece. Badr Abdullah Mohammed Al Harmi, a 35-year-old government employee from Al Mairid area, passed away after being swept away by strong sea currents while swimming with friends. The incident occurred shortly after his arrival in Mykonos, causing widespread shock and sorrow among residents.

Al Harmi was remembered as a kind-hearted individual, well-respected for his good character and generosity. His body was repatriated to Ras Al Khaimah, where he was laid to rest at Al Hudaibah Cemetery, with thousands attending his funeral. A community fundraising campaign raised funds to build two mosques and a water well in his memory.

The tragedy highlights the dangers of traveling abroad and the importance of safety precautions, as it was the second overseas death involving UAE nationals during summer holidays this year.
