DSS arrests alleged arms trafficking kingpin in Katsina, Nasarawa

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Nasarawa State has arrested two individuals, Adamu Mohammed and Emmanuel Omaku, on suspicion of vehicle theft and attempting to dispose of a stolen car. The arrests took place on August 21, 2026, at a mechanic workshop along Secretariat Road in Lafia North Development Area. The suspects were reportedly intercepted by NSCDC officers while attempting to sell the vehicle.

During the arrest, the NSCDC recovered a 2010 Toyota Camry, along with two sets of vehicle number plates - one bearing ABJ-289-CQ from Abuja and the other LAF-761-AG from Nasarawa. Additional items seized included a Moniepoint ATM card, a cutlass, and ₦169,500 in cash. State Commandant Brah Samson Umoru stated that the NSCDC was conducting a comprehensive investigation to determine the ownership and origin of the vehicle, as well as the roles played by the suspects and any individuals connected to the alleged crime.

Umoru urged residents to provide timely information to security agencies, emphasizing the importance of public cooperation in preventing crime. The NSCDC added that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other suspected members of the gang and that the arrested individuals and anyone found responsible would face prosecution after the conclusion of investigations.
