Diamondbacks-Giants live. Marte logs at-bats. Gurriel update

On Thursday, Aug. 27, Diamondbacks' second baseman Ketel Marte took part in a bridge camp game at Salt River Fields, playing four at-bats and alternating between second base and designated hitter positions. This marked Marte's first on-field action since his sudden absence from a game in Boston on Aug. 17, when he was placed on the restricted list and later moved to the injured list due to knee inflammation.

In the near future, Marte is set to make a simulated game appearance on Aug. 29, with an anticipated return from the injured list on Aug. 31, facing the Philadelphia Phillies at Chase Field.

Meanwhile, left fielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. has been making strides during his rehab stint with Triple-A Reno, with manager Torey Lovullo expressing hopes that his offensive performance will be more consistent before Gurriel's return from the injured list. Gurriel has struggled with a .088 batting average in 21 at-bats, hitting no extra-base hits, recording two walks, and striking out eight times. Lovullo stated that consistency and controlled at-bats are crucial for Gurriel's rehabilitation process.

Third baseman Nolan Arenado was left out of the Diamondbacks' lineup on Thursday due to a left intercostal injury, which has been the cause of his absence since the previous week. The team has not officially confirmed the reason behind Arenado's absence from the lineup. In his place, rookie pitcher Jose Fernandez will take the spot traditionally occupied by Arenado, who played the No. 6 position in the lineup.

Barring any further changes, the Diamondbacks will be facing the Giants at Oracle Park on Aug. 29 at 6:45 p.m., with starting pitchers José Cabrera (0-2, 5.60) for the Diamondbacks and Logan Webb (8-8, 3.75) for the Giants.
