Delhi Education Department Promotes 23 Principals To Deputy Director Posts, Expanding Their Roles In School Oversight And Policy Implementation

In New Delhi, the Delhi Directorate of Education has officially promoted 23 principals to the significant position of Deputy Director of Education for the upcoming years of 2025 and 2026. This decision, approved by Lieutenant Governor T S Sandhu, has been implemented immediately and marked a promotion to Level 12 of the pay matrix.

The Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) responsible for these promotions concluded its meeting on August 6, after which the recommendations were sent to the Directorate of Education. The file proceeded to the LG for approval after approval by the Delhi chief secretary, as the LG holds the authority to appoint Principals, who are Group A posts.

The previous DPC session to fill 16 vacancies for the year 2024 took place on July 1, 2025. With these latest promotions, the total number of principals elevated to Deputy Directors of Education now stands at 23. This expansion in roles will see these officers not only managing individual schools but also overseeing multiple institutions.

Additionally, they will be involved in implementing education-related policies at the district or zone level. Their responsibilities will encompass areas such as curriculum implementation, resource allocation, and monitoring education quality across numerous schools.
