Constitutional reform remains my lifelong mission – Barker-Vormawor after appointment

Lawyer, activist and academic Oliver Barker-Vormawor has been appointed as Secretary and Member of the Constitution Review Implementation Committee, reaffirming his lifelong dedication to constitutional reform in Ghana. Acknowledging his commitment to this cause since he joined the Constitution Review Commission at 22, Barker-Vormawor expressed that his advocacy for a new constitutional framework remains unwavering.

Despite the current political consensus lacking for such fundamental changes, he emphasized that the ambition remains his lifelong mission. Barker-Vormawor emphasized that his involvement in the current process is merely a crucial step in the journey, not a departure from the broader reform campaign. He highlighted his colleagues at Democracy Hub, who also see the current process as merely the beginning of their long-standing effort.

The lawyer expressed gratitude to the government for its commitment to having technocrats lead the constitutional review process, citing previous committees and the current chair as examples of reputable individuals dedicated to this endeavor.
