Cathay Bank opens representative office in Ho Chi Minh City

Cathay Bank, a subsidiary of Cathay General Bancorp, has opened a representative office in Ho Chi Minh City. Established in 1962 in Los Angeles, the bank's new office is situated in the Royal Center Building, 235 Nguyen Van Cu, Cau Ong Lanh ward. The representative office will bolster Cathay Bank's local presence as it deepens its relationships and explores opportunities in Vietnam and the wider Asia-Pacific market.

With this office, the bank now operates four representative offices, including locations in Beijing, Shanghai, and Taipei, alongside over 60 branches across the United States and a branch in Hong Kong. Dunson K. Cheng, executive chairman of Cathay General Bancorp and Cathay Bank, expressed satisfaction with the expansion of the bank's presence in Vietnam.

This opening signifies a significant step in the bank's ongoing international growth and commitment to fostering meaningful relationships and serving communities across the Asia-Pacific region. Vietnam has become an increasingly attractive destination for foreign investment in Southeast Asia, owing to its robust economy, expanding consumer market, and involvement in various regional and global trade agreements.
