Bret Baier Defends Fox News’ Jonathan Hunt Amid Donald Trump’s Attack On His Iran Report, Calls Out POTUS Claim That Segment Was Inaccurate

President Donald Trump criticized Fox News correspondent Jonathan Hunt on Thursday, accusing Hunt's recent reporting on Iran as "inaccurate." The president, speaking on Truth Social while on Air Force One to Texas, stated, "Jonathan Hunt of Fox News did a particularly inaccurate report on the Failing Islamic Republic of Iran." He added, "I don’t want to meet [with Iran], they do.

In fact, they are begging to make a deal." Trump then directed his ire towards Fox News' Chief Political Anchor Bret Baier, urging him to "straighten out his flunkies," and concluded, "for a change!"

Baier defended Hunt, asserting on-air, "First of all, Jonathan Hunt is not a flunkie, he’s a great reporter." He further clarified that Trump's statement about wanting to meet Iran was misconstrued, explaining that they had played a soundbite indicating Trump's reluctance to meet. Baier reiterated, "In fact we played a soundbite that you didn’t want to meet and there are no negotiations...

We said that Treasury Secretary Bessent is hoping to meet with G-20 countries to increase the pressure on Iran. And that Gulf state allies, including Qatar, are inside Tehran trying to get Iran to agree to concessions."

This is not the first time Fox News has faced Trump's criticism. In April, Trump had targeted Fox News correspondents Jessica Tarlov and Shannon Bream for their coverage. He had previously lambasted ABC News as "fake news" in March and even sued the Wall Street Journal, BBC, and The New York Times in the past year.
