Bodies of four Naga civilians killed in Manipur ambush retrieved

In Manipur's Kangpokpi district, the bodies of four Naga civilians killed in an ambush were retrieved on Friday morning, officials confirmed. The attack occurred around 8:30 am on Thursday in an isolated area between Makui Ashang and Thanamba Naga villages. One of the deceased, Tadsongbou Ringkangmai, was a school principal. The other victims were M Wijunamai, Anil Wijunamai, and Wisobou Charenamai, all belonging to the Liangmai Naga community.

A security team, including state police personnel, reached the site on Friday morning to retrieve the bodies, which were taken to Senapati district headquarters. The victims were identified on Thursday night when a large crowd gathered in Senapati district, demanding the bodies be brought to their Naga-majority district. Following the incident, Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh convened a high-level security meeting and ordered security forces to apprehend and punish those responsible.

The United Naga Council accused two militant groups, Kuki National Front and Kuki Revolutionary Army, of involvement in the ambush. The injured victim, Gaikamang Ringkangmai, was also from the Liangmai Naga community.
