Bauchi police arrest man over alleged defilement of eight-month-old stepdaughter

The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended a man named Balarabe Adamu in connection with the alleged sexual abuse of his eight-month-old stepdaughter in Toro Local Government Area. The incident was reported on August 26, 2026, at 5:34 p.m. According to the police, Adamu, who resides in Lame, Toro LGA, allegedly sexually assaulted the infant after she was brought to his home by his wife.

The child was promptly taken to General Hospital, Toro, for medical evaluation and treatment. Police officers from the Gumau Division subsequently responded to the report and arrested Adamu, who is currently in police custody. The investigation into the allegation is ongoing. Bauchi State's Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, denounced the alleged act as unacceptable and assured the public that the police would conduct a thorough investigation and prosecute the suspect if the allegation is substantiated.

He reiterated the police's zero-tolerance policy towards sexual violence and child abuse, urging parents, guardians, and community leaders to report suspected cases of child abuse to the nearest police station. Updates on the investigation will be released in due course.
