Alex Albon has explained why Williams cannot afford to keep secrets from team-mate Carlos Sainz in Formula 1. The Grove-based team has had a difficult 2026 season, currently sitting ninth in the constructors' standings with just 11 points. Sainz and Albon are 16th and 17th in the drivers' standings, with only six and five points respectively.
During an appearance on The Fast And The Curious podcast, Albon said that while rival teams often withhold data to gain an advantage, such tactics wouldn't work for Williams due to the performance limitations of their car. Albon joked that either he or Sainz may share feedback, but they both have the same problems to work on. They collaborate, take the best of each other's ideas, and discard the rest.
Albon noted that this teamwork was more prevalent when they were rookies fighting for the same position.
