Ahmadiyya elders urged to lead moral crusade in digital age, warns against rising religious tensions

The Ameer and Missionary-in-Charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana, Maulvi Noor Mohammed Bin Salih, along with the Upper West Regional Minister, Charles Lwanga Puozuing, have urged citizens, especially religious leaders, to promote moral behavior, responsible use of digital platforms, and unity. During the National Convention (Ijtema) of Majlis Ansarullah Ghana held in Wa, the two leaders stressed the need for mindful restraint in the rapidly changing digital landscape to maintain national peace.

The convention, attended by thousands from Ghana, Nigeria, Benin and Burkina Faso, focused on "Upholding Moral Excellence in the Digital Age: The Role of Ansarullah." Ameer Bin Salih expressed worry over the rise of aggressive rhetoric and intolerance that could endanger Ghana's long-standing religious harmony, stating that misused religion can destroy communities, nations, and humanity.

He emphasized that true morality involves deliberate actions aimed at the common good and protecting human dignity, not just outward religious displays. The elder warned against retaliating to insults based on perceived insults to one's Prophet or leaders, citing the patience of the Holy Prophet Muhammad as a moral standard. Addressing local development issues, Ameer Bin Salih also lamented the poor condition of roads connecting southern Ghana to the Upper West Region.

He expressed support for those who have demanded urgent attention from the government to repair the deteriorating highway network. Upper West Regional Minister Puozuing, as the guest speaker, discussed the digital revolution's opportunities while cautioning against the risks of misuse, such as the spread of misinformation, hate speech, and indecency.

He stressed that the challenge lies not in technology itself but in how we value and use it. Moral excellence, according to Puozuing, should transcend physical actions.
