7 Andhra fishermen rescued after over 3 weeks at sea

A bus accident near Adda Road in Andhra Pradesh's Palnadu district claimed seven lives and left eight others seriously injured early Thursday, according to police reports. The collision occurred when a private bus en route from Vijayawada to Tirupati struck an auto-rickshaw carrying 15 passengers near Chilakaluripet mandal. Four passengers succumbed to their injuries at the scene, two more died later at Guntur government general hospital, and another victim passed away at Chilakaluripet government hospital.

The deceased victims, all residents of Veluru village, were Bontha Babu (62), Bontha Manemma (55), Sampurnamma (70), Lakshmamma (75), Gangamma (50), Chautapalli Suvartha (45), and Mariyamma (45). They had journeyed to Kondamanjuluru to attend a birthday celebration before returning home. Upon learning about the accident, police immediately launched rescue efforts and transported the injured to nearby hospitals for critical care.

The eight injured individuals, including four children, are receiving close medical supervision. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and directed officials to ensure the injured receive optimal medical attention. Officials are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision, including potential negligence by the bus driver, and are closely monitoring the health conditions of the injured.
