2027: Obi, Kwankwaso supporters reject merger

The OK Movement, a political platform supporting the joint ticket of Peter Obi and Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso for the 2027 elections, has ruled out any merger with an external political organization. The decision was made at a national leadership summit in Abuja, attended by leaders from the Obidient Movement and Kwankwasiyya, two factions forming the OK Movement.

The summit's resolutions, jointly signed by Convener Ladipo Johnson and National Secretary Sadaatu Sani, stated that the movement would remain independent and not absorb or be absorbed by any external political body. Johnson emphasized that independence does not mean isolation, and the movement is willing to coordinate closely with allied groups to achieve shared goals.

The OK Movement's Director-General, John Ughulu, was confirmed to retain his position due to his role in building the grassroots structure of the organization. The leadership warned that removing Ughulu or abandoning independence could lead to the collapse of the grassroots structure. Following the summit, the OK Movement leadership visited Kwankwaso and his adviser, Buba Galadima, to brief them on the outcome and stress the importance of unity within the movement.
