2 Malaysians in Nepal flood located, 55 still missing

Two Malaysians have been found safe after flash floods and landslides in Nepal, while 55 remain missing, according to the Malaysian foreign ministry. Their identities are being withheld until verification. Emergency teams in Nepal have recovered 472 bodies following the calamity, which also left 490 Nepalese and 38 foreigners rescued.

No Malaysians have been identified among the rescued so far, based on the latest information. Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan has ordered intensified efforts to locate the missing Malaysians, and a Malaysian official was dispatched to Kathmandu to aid the Nepalese embassy. The Malaysian embassy in Kathmandu is collaborating with Nepalese authorities, the tourism board, and tour operators to gather and verify information on the missing Malaysians.

The floods and landslides in Rasuwa district were triggered by the Bhote Koshi River overflowing, resulting in extensive damage to infrastructure and disrupting communications. The situation remains challenging due to cut-off roads, damaged bridges, and limited access, hindering search and rescue operations.
