2. Bundesliga: Five-star Hertha maintain perfect record with sensational comeback in Braunschweig

Hertha BSC has opened their 2. Bundesliga season with a perfect record after a thrilling comeback win away against Eintracht Braunschweig. The German side secured their third consecutive home defeat this season. In an eight-goal thriller, Stefan Leitl's side triumphed 5-3. Yann Sturm gave Hertha the lead just ten minutes into the game.

Kevin Ehlers doubled the advantage from a Niklas Kolbe error. Braunschweig had two clear chances, but they were ultimately level at halftime after conceding two late goals. Jón Dagur Thorsteinsson scored for Braunschweig on his full debut. Josip Brekalo scored a memorable goal in the closing moments of the first half, capitalizing on a poor corner-kick from Braunschweig.

Hertha regained the lead in the second half, with Ehlers equalizing and Kolbe converting a penalty, assisted by Brekalo. Substitute Oluwaseun Adewumi sealed the victory with a fifth goal for the visitors. Braunschweig's Jan Urbich pulled one back immediately, but it was too late as Hertha secured a third consecutive home win. Urbich is now the league's joint top-scorer, having scored twice when Braunschweig started their campaign with a 6-1 victory against Magdeburg.

Leitl, turning 49 tomorrow, will now prepare his invincible team for an upcoming home game against Magdeburg. Eintracht Braunschweig will face Osnabrück away next.
