Yunus Emre Cultural Centre to launch new cultural season

Doha, Qatar is set to welcome the launch of a new cultural season at the Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Centre on September 13. The event will present an extensive array of language courses, arts workshops, heritage activities, culinary sessions, and cultural events, all geared towards fostering cultural bonds between Qatar and Turkey.

The center's objective is to promote the Turkish language and culture in Qatar, while facilitating cultural exchange and interaction between the Turkish and Qatari communities. This new season will present Turkish language courses for adults and children across weekdays and weekends, ensuring a flexible schedule for all.

These courses are meticulously designed to provide a specialized learning atmosphere, enabling participants to develop their Turkish language skills according to their proficiency levels. Upon completion, students will have the chance to take the Turkish Proficiency Exam (TYS), an internationally recognized examination accredited by the Association of Language Testers in Europe (ALTE). Achieving this certification allows learners to formally showcase their Turkish language proficiency.

In addition to language education, the centre's programme also encompasses a diverse range of interactive cultural and artistic activities. Participants will have the opportunity to delve into various aspects of Turkish heritage through workshops on traditional art forms such as oil painting, illumination, Arabic calligraphy, and ebru (marbling). These workshops aim to educate participants about the techniques and traditions behind these age-old forms of Turkish art.

Anwar Gidik, the Director of the Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Centre in Doha, expressed his satisfaction with the preparations for the new educational season. He emphasized the center's commitment to offering a program that combines educational courses with cultural and artistic activities. Gidik stated that the aim is to make the new season "rich, enjoyable and beneficial" for participants, while encouraging members of the public to engage with the center's programs.
