World Cup personality Vozinha makes his first Colo-Colo start in a Copa Chile match

Colo Colo goalkeeper Vozinha, hailing from Cape Verde, made his first appearance for the Chilean soccer giants in a Copa Chile match against Unión Española on Wednesday. The 40-year-old veteran, whose birth name is Josimar Évora Dias, arrived in South America on August 2 following his signing announcement on July 24. Paperwork complications and personal matters had caused delays in his arrival, leading to fan and team concerns.

Upon his arrival, Vozinha joined the training sessions with Colo Colo, who currently lead the domestic league by a 13-point margin over Universidad de Chile. Since his arrival, he has participated in three matches, including last Sunday's "Superclásico" against Universidad de Chile, where he was unused. His debut in the Copa Chile proved successful, as Colo Colo emerged victorious with a 3-0 win over Unión Española, securing the top spot in Group E after the match.

Despite initial nervousness, Vozinha settled quickly into his role, stopping the visitors from scoring a consolation goal and maintaining a clean sheet in his first match for his new team. Competition for the starting position remains fierce, as 19-year-old academy product Gabriel Maureira has been Colo Colo's first-choice goalkeeper due to his impressive performance in the "Superclásico."

Coach Fernando Ortiz made it clear that Vozinha won't be considered for the starting position just yet, but he will need to prove his worth through performance to secure the coveted spot.
