Why Dolly Parton wrote a letter to Eminem after Hall of Fame induction

Dolly Parton, the renowned country music icon, left a lasting impact on many, including Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers. On August 26, the rapper posted a letter written by Dolly to him in 2022, after his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The letter, which has since gone viral, expressed Dolly's admiration for Eminem's performance and his status as the "very best" at rap music.

Despite not knowing much about rap music, Dolly felt an unexplained connection to him and hoped they would meet at the induction ceremony. However, she understood the chaos of such events and feared missing her chance to greet him. Dolly also encouraged Eminem to keep doing what he loved, as he did it exceptionally well and touched people in ways unknown to him.

Eminem responded to the note on the day of Dolly's death, expressing gratitude for the kind words and apologizing for never having a chance to meet her. His comment was made public shortly after news of Dolly's passing was announced.
