'Vishwanath and Sons': A family entertainer that strikes a chord with emotional depth

Vishwanath and Sons is an all-encompassing family entertainer starring Surya, Radhika Sivakumar, Mamitha Baiju, and Raveena Tandon. The film, helmed by Venky Atluri, marks Surya's 46th movie and is based on an intriguing story of a competitive shooter turned business tycoon, Sanjay Vishwanath. His mother, Nirmala Devi, portrayed by Sivakumar, prays for her son to marry and have a child.

However, when Sanjay returns from San Francisco with a baby boy, the revelation shocks Nirmala. He admits to fathering the child through surrogacy, leaving his mother heartbroken as she had hoped for a biological child. As Nirmala bonds with her grandson, Abhay, they face a crisis when he's diagnosed with a life-threatening disorder.

The only solution is a bone marrow transplant, but Sanjay's marrow is incompatible. In the film's emotional climax, Sanjay must find the anonymous surrogate mother to donate her bone marrow and save his son, leading to suspenseful moments, light-hearted comedy, and soul-stirring music.

The cast delivers remarkable performances, with Sarathkumar portraying Nirmala's doting mother convincingly, Sivakumar stealing the show with her acting prowess, and Baiju handling her complex role with skill. Surya excels in action sequences and emotional scenes, showcasing his versatility as an actor. Raveena Tandon, a former Bollywood heroine, makes a welcome return to Kollywood.

George Maryaan's appearance adds value to the film. GV Prakash's soundtrack, with the standout song "Pattampoochi," completes the movie's appeal. Nimish Ravi's cinematography captures stunning visuals in Belarus, Ooty, and the USA. Director Venky Atluri successfully delivers a family-oriented movie that entertains and emotionally engages the audience.

The film is currently screening at CineCentre Suncoast, with MC Michael Lachimiah adding a community touch.
