Video of chief of defence staff endorsing politics fake – DHQ

The Defence Headquarters has released a statement refuting a viral video that purportedly shows the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, endorsing political content. The Defense Headquarters categorically affirmed that the video is a fabrication and did not originate from the Chief of Defence Staff. The statements attributed to Oluyede in the video were dismissed as false and urged to be disregarded by the public.

The DHQ emphasized that the video was created using artificial intelligence and was designed to deceive and misrepresent the position of the Chief of Defence Staff, tarnishing the image of the Nigerian Armed Forces. The military reaffirmed its apolitical and non-partisan stance, asserting that the Armed Forces remains committed to its constitutional duties and the defense of the nation.

The Defense Headquarters sternly condemned the production and dissemination of the fake video and warned those responsible for such actions, as well as individuals who knowingly share the material, to immediately cease their activities. The military urged Nigerians to rely solely on information released through its official communication channels and to disregard the circulating video.
