[UPDATED] Former TH chairman, former Treasury sec-gen arrive at court for remand hearing [WATCH]

Two former senior officials, a former TH chairman and a former Treasury secretary-general, appeared at the Putrajaya Magistrates’ Court for a remand hearing on August 27, 2026. Wearing orange lock-up attire and handcuffed, they arrived at the court around 9.30am. The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigation into Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) has expanded, leading to the detention of these two additional individuals.

Prior to this hearing, a former TH chief executive officer was also brought to court and remanded for seven days from August 21 to August 27. This decision was made by Magistrate Ezrene Zakariah after MACC secured the order. The latest two detainees, both in their 60s, were apprehended at approximately 4pm the previous day following their arrival at MACC headquarters.

MACC is currently investigating matters raised in the Royal Commission of Inquiry report concerning TH's management and operations. The anti-graft agency commenced its investigation on July 31, shortly after the RCI report was made public.
