Universal Studios Japan to spend up to $1.88 billion on expansion, Nikkei reports

Universal Studios Japan is set to invest up to $1.88 billion in a major expansion, according to the Nikkei newspaper. The expansion, which could see the theme park grow beyond its original footprint established in 2001, is expected to take place on a 60,000-square-meter site adjacent to the park. The park aims to increase its annual visitor count, currently at 16 million, to surpass this milestone.

The expansion will also involve the use of a former Nippon Steel factory site north of the current park property, with a lease agreement anticipated with the Osaka municipal government around 2028.
