Two killed after SUV crashes moments after U-turn in Gua Musang

Two men lost their lives in a tragic accident on Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala Lipis near Bukit Lanjut, Gua Musang, this morning, just moments after a Proton X70 made a U-turn. District police chief Superintendent Sik Choon Foo reported the incident, which occurred at 10.24am. Prior to the collision, police patrolling the road had noticed the SUV exhibiting suspicious behavior.

Following a U-turn, the SUV was reportedly driven recklessly, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle swerved into oncoming traffic and collided with the rear of a Toyota Hilux. The SUV then veered off the road, skidding onto the shoulder before crashing into a lamp post. Unfortunately, one man perished at the scene, while the other succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Several other occupants of the Proton X70 sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at the same medical facility. The Toyota Hilux driver and the police personnel involved in the incident were fortunately unharmed. Superintendent Sik emphasized that the case is under investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

He appealed to eyewitnesses or anyone with pertinent information to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
