Two Fire and Rescue dept officers among Malaysians uncontactable after Nepal flash floods

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 - Two Fire and Rescue Department officers are among the Malaysians who remain unreachable following flash floods in Rasuwa, Nepal. The officers are Mohd Sani Harul, deputy director of the JBPM Planning and Research Division, and Mohd Fakhrul Munir Mohd Isa, a Central Region Academy officer. According to the JBPM director-general Datuk Seri Nor Hisham Mohammad, the two were part of a group of 10 Malaysians who departed for Nepal on Monday night and were en route to Everest Base Camp.

They were not engaged in climbing activities but were traveling by jeep along the Tibet route, the JBPM official explained to Bernama. Mohd Fakhrul Munir had previously participated in a charity climbing expedition named 'Bomba de Everest Mencari Hati Emas' to Mount Everest in 2025. Wisma Putra, a Malaysian agency, stated in a recent statement that families have been unable to reach over 50 Malaysian travelers in Nepal due to the catastrophic floods that occurred on Wednesday, leaving hundreds of foreigners and Nepalese missing or unaccounted for.
