Two civilians killed as motorcycle triggers IED blast in Zamfara

Two civilians lost their lives in Zamfara State following an improvised explosive device, or IED, explosion along the Gurusu–Gwashi road in Bukuyyum Local Government Area. Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported the incident occurred around 8:04am on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. According to Makama, troops of 1 Brigade arrived on the scene in response to the explosion.

Preliminary investigations revealed that an individual on a motorcycle had triggered the IED. The blast claimed the lives of a male and a female victim, whose remains were recovered at the scene. The bodies were then transported to Bukuyyum General Hospital for further processing. Following the tragic event, security forces maintained a strong presence in the area to deter further attacks and impede the movement of suspected terrorists.
