Troops rescue two kidnap victims, recover 94 rustled livestock in Kaduna, Kano

Troops of the Joint Task Force North West successfully rescued two kidnapped victims and recovered 94 stolen livestock during separate operations in Kaduna and Kano states on August 25 and 26, 2026. Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, a spokesperson for the task force, revealed that troops engaged in combat with terrorists in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, thwarting an ambush attempt and recovering a captured motorcycle.

In another incident, troops responded to a distress call regarding the abduction of three civilians and livestock rustling in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State. They tracked and confronted the terrorists, resulting in the rescue of two female victims and the death of a male victim who sustained gunshot wounds during the confrontation.

The troops also pursued terrorists in Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State, who had rustled livestock from a community. Overwhelming the terrorists with superior firepower, they forced them to flee, abandoning the stolen animals. The recovered livestock, consisting of 57 cows and 37 sheep, were returned to their rightful owners in the presence of security and local government representatives.

The joint task force emphasized the importance of sustained pressure on terrorist and criminal elements to protect lives and livelihoods, and urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security forces.
