Three foreign nationals arrested over alleged confinement of Chinese job seeker in Manjung

Manjung police have arrested three foreign nationals, including a Japanese and two Taiwanese men, in connection with the alleged wrongful confinement of a Chinese job seeker. According to ACP Hasbullah Abd Rahman, the Manjung district police headquarters received a complaint from the victim via WhatsApp at around 10.30 pm, stating he had been locked in a house at Venus Residence near Seri Manjung.

Police from the Manjung IPD arrived at the scene around 12.15 am and arrested the three suspects aged between 21 and 33 years. The victim, who was suspected of unlawful detention, was also rescued during the raid. Initial investigations suggest the suspects' motive was the victim's refusal to follow their orders, but the motive is still under further investigation. The suspects and victim are not acquainted with each other, and the victim was seeking part-time employment, which led to their entanglement with the suspects.

All three suspects and the victim were taken to the Manjung IPD for further investigation. The case is being probed under Section 342 of the Penal Code and Section (6)(1) of the Immigration Act 1953/63. The suspects have been remanded for four days until Aug 29.
