Thane Civic Body Cancels Allotment Of 14 Properties Worth ₹12 Crore Over Fake PAP Documents Scam

Thane's Municipal Corporation has rescinded the allotment of 14 properties, including eight commercial shops and six residential houses, valued at around ₹12 crore due to a corruption scandal involving fake PAP documents. The civic body reached this decision after conducting a thorough administrative investigation. The fraudulent allotments were uncovered following persistent inquiries by local activist Yogesh Mundhara, who had been pushing the matter for over a year.

The scandal is believed to have originated from the Estate Department during the time of a former official, who allegedly treated municipal property as personal assets and awarded allotments without proper procedures. Upon receiving the cancellation order from the Municipal Commissioner, activist Mundhara emphasized the enormity of the scam.

The municipal property in question was allegedly allotted based on forged and false documents. With the order now officially passed, public pressure is building on the administration to hold accountable the individuals involved. There are calls for a comprehensive investigation into the verification of the fake documents, the authorization of the final approvals, and potential criminal proceedings against the officials and beneficiaries who benefited from the scam.
