Tech giants warn time is running out to prepare for AI threats

OpenAI, Anthropic, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, and over 100 other major tech companies have issued a warning that they have only months to prepare for AI-enabled cyberattacks. The companies lay out a plan for various stakeholders, including organizations, governments, and cybersecurity and AI companies, to adapt to the evolving threat landscape.

Key actions include raising internal security standards, testing and building tools for AI-powered defense, sharing threat intelligence, and providing access to advanced response models and funding for defenders, especially critical infrastructure providers. Although no specific commitments were made, the letter highlights the urgent need to address the growing threat of AI-powered cyberattacks on essential services.
