Tate brothers deny criminal accusations in court and ask to be released while fighting extradition to the UK

Social media influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate will remain in a Miami jail as they contest extradition to Britain, where they are accused of rape and other crimes. At a hearing on Thursday, Magistrate Judge Lauren Louis decided not to rule immediately on the brothers' request for bail, meaning they will stay in federal custody until she issues her decision.

The Tates were arrested in Miami on July 18 upon Britain's request for their extradition. Both brothers, who hold dual U.S. and British citizenship, have denied any wrongdoing. Andrew Tate, 39, has previously described himself as a misogynist. They seek to counter federal prosecutors' claim that they should be held in custody as they contest extradition to Britain, where they face charges of rape, assault, and trafficking.

Prosecutors showed the court a video of Andrew Tate allegedly using misogynistic language. They promoted violence against women through their webcam pornography business and Hustler's University courses. Andrew Tate testified that he toned down his online remarks after his initial arrest in Romania about five years ago. Both brothers testified that they play exaggerated characters online to boost engagement.

Their defense lawyers proposed that the judge release them on conditions like posting bond, surrendering their passports, and using location monitoring. The legal process for extradition could take months, as Britain has until September 16 to submit its full extradition request.
