Star Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck requests trade

Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, a Hart Trophy winner in 2025 and three-time Vezina Trophy winner, has publicly requested a trade from his team. In a statement posted on his agent's X account, Hellebuyck claimed he privately requested a trade "several months ago" but decided to go public as training camp approaches. Hellebuyck expressed gratitude for his time with the Jets but acknowledged he gave everything to prove the team's decision to draft him in 2012 was correct.

Despite his success, including leading the Jets to the best record in the NHL during the 2024-25 season, Hellebuyck's tenure has been marred by criticism, including backlash over his presence at a White House event hosted by President Donald Trump. Hellebuyck, who has a 345-208-55 record over 625 career games with the Jets, is now seeking a trade from the organization he considers his "home."

His agent, Ray Petkau, said Hellebuyck remained grateful for his time with the Jets while expressing disappointment over the public criticism he and his family received.
