Soldier killed in crash two days after wedding

On August 23, 24-year-old soldier Muhammad Alif Ahmad Rozaini married his wife Noor Azilah Hanim Mohd Tajuddin, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their lives. However, just two days later, tragedy struck when Alif was killed in a road accident in Tampin, Negri Sembilan on Tuesday.

Alif's motorcycle collided with two cars, and he succumbed to his injuries the following day. His wife, Noor Azilah, also sustained fractures to both her arms and legs in the accident. The newlyweds were en route to a bank to finalize preparations for Alif's side reception, scheduled for August 30, when the accident occurred.

Noor Azilah's elder sister, Umminadhrah Ahmad Rozaini, expressed the family's devastation over the sudden loss of the sixth of nine siblings. She recounted how Alif was unusually talkative during the wedding and even delivered a heartfelt speech, praying for their marriage to last until Jannah. During the solemnization, Alif's voice trembled, and he wept, leaving a lasting impression on his sister-in-law.

Umminadhrah shared that the couple was on their way to the bank to wrap up the groom's side reception when the accident occurred. Noor Azilah, currently undergoing surgery on her left leg, is deeply traumatized by the incident. To ensure she could still pay her respects, the family arranged a video call so she could witness her husband's final rites and burial.

Alif, who was based in Melaka, was laid to rest at the Kalumpang Muslim Cemetery in Selangor yesterday, with his family continuing to provide support for his wife's recovery.
